Wet weather and a torrential downpour Friday night caused several accidents in the city and county this weekend.

A Winchester man is in serious condition at University of Kentucky Medical Center after he was thrown almost 80 feet from his vehicle early Saturday.

According to the Clark County Sheriff's Office, David A. Elliott of 189 Carel Drive was traveling east on Rockwell Road at 2:06 a.m., about four miles west of town, when his vehicle dropped off then back onto the road, skidded to the left, hit an embankment and overturned multiple times before landing on the driver' side.

Elliott was ejected from the car through the driver's side door and thrown across a fence. He was transported to the University of Kentucky Medical Center. According to a report, he was not wearing his seat belt and was driving on a DUI-suspended license.
