Can you remember diagonal parking in the middle of Broadway?

York's Apple House on North Main Street?

Main Street covered in brick?

A creamery and a locksmith shop on West Broadway between Wall Alley and Maple Street?

A corner grocery and apartments where BB&T and its parking lot are now located?

A small building housing Columbia Gas and a small upper apartment at the corner of Wall and Cleveland streets?

The man who kept downtown Winchester clean with a push broom and cart?

The athletic rivalry between Winchester and Clark County High schools?

Flynn's, Dailey's and Quisenberry's as popular high school hangouts?

A skating rink on East Washington Street just past the former viaduct and later one on West Lexington Avenue just east of the former railroad crossing, and still another on Carol Road.

A bowling alley on North Main Street and later another on Carol Road?

Dances at the fire department when it was housed in City Hall?

Blue Ribbon Days when children marched down Main Street near the end of the school year?

Remembering all or some of these probably means we have more years behind us than in front of us.

Anyway, they make good memories for those of us that can remember all or part of them and for those that can't, you missed a lot in downtown Winchester. Wish you could have known it!
