A 75-year-old man got into his car in Ohio to go see a friend. He got lost and ended up in Jessamine County.
Gene Butler, who suffers from Alzheimer's disease, ended up running out of gas on Sulphur Well Road, according to the Jessamine County Sheriff's Office.
Sheriff's Deputy Carlton Gay said that apparently Butler ran out of gas Sunday, July 29, and started wandering around the neighborhood.
"He didn't have a clue where he was or where he was going," Gay said.
A resident of Sulphur Well Road took the man to the sheriff's office.
Gay said they looked through his wallet and found out who he was and called his family.
"They were frantic," he said. "They had already reported him missing. They said that they had taken his car keys away from him, but he had an extra set and they didn't know it. They discovered he was missing yesterday (Sunday, July 29) at about 1 p.m."
