Fair contest winners announced

In the cake mix category of the Old Fashioned Fair Cake Contest, Roger Townsend won a first-place ribbon for his burger cake, Barbara Wicker also got a first-place ribbon with her perfect chocolate cake and first-place ribbon for the scratch recipe category. They were just two of the dozen entries. Other winners included: scratch recipe category, second place to Doris Hatfield for her carrot cake; and third place to Susan Prewitt for her triple fudge chocolate cake. Cake mix category winners also included: Barbara Wicker who won second-place for her strawberry cake and Linda Parsley, third place, for her granny mom's mandarin orange cake.

Also, Marge Walker received grand champion honors in the home economics entries for the 2007 Clark County Fair with her antique bed entry. Reserved grand champion goes to Marcie Lord, who entered a painted carousel horse. Other category winners will be published soon.

The Tied-n-Knots Quilt Club presented a gift certificate to the top winning quilt in the home economics entries. Congratulations to Joan Wise for her winning entry.
