COACH: Deborah Pacheco, first season.
LAST YEAR: The Cardinals went 2-15.
KEY LOSSES: Angie Felts, Chelsea Sligh, Adrienne Cates and Ashley Knowles.
TOP RETURNEES: Jennifer Lanter, Ashlea Hollon, Hannah Shear, Kayla Bowman, Sarah Nein, Katelyn Smith and Whitney Montgomery.
OUTLOOK: Pacheco coached volleyball for three years in Colorado and takes over for Robbie Graham, who stepped down last month after two seasons. Pacheco becomes the third coach in the program's short history. The team has won five games in the past two years and is a combined 8-64 in the last four seasons. Pacheco likes the makeup of her first team, with hitters Lanter, Nein, Smith and Montgomery. Shear will serve as the team's primary hitter, with Bowman possessing strong passing skills, while Hollon, Nein and Lanter are the top servers.
GOALS: Pacheco said she hopes to continue the development of the program. "I want to take the skill that each of the players are good at and make them even better and stronger at what they do. I want each of the girls to feel successful, and mastering what they are good at will make them stronger and will help the team feel successful." Pacheco's first game was a win over district rival Bourbon County in three sets.
