Employees of the Clark County Road Department have been repairing several bridges throughout the county in order to raise their safe load limits.

The Winchester Housing Authority voted Monday night to purchase liability insurance for the five commissioners.

The annual Chism family reunion will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 22, at the Winn Avenue Church of God campgrounds. A basket lunch will be served at 1:30 p.m.

Laura Welch, Clark County, is among several fifth- and sixth-graders attending Camp Earl Wallace for a week of outdoor fun and instruction.

The annual Farmer-Banker Tour visited farming operations and agri-business in Colorado and Wyoming. Farming operations included sweet corn, sugar beets, onions, potatoes and a cattle ranch, which agri-business included feedlots and an embryo transplant laboratory. The tour wasn't all work, however, as the contingent visited Rocky Mountain National Park, saw a parade and rodeo and attended shows by country music entertainers Charlie Daniels and Mickey Gilley.

The new Winchester Kmart will incorporate a new interior design for the 1980s that was tested in Indianapolis, Ind., in 1980. The store here is scheduled to open for business Thursday, Aug. 19.
