Annual J.D. Crowe Bluegrass festival

Down the road, the Annual JD. Crowe Bluegrass Music Festival is Friday and Saturday at Ichthus Farm in Wilmore. Musical entertainment includes J.D. Crowe and The New South, Lonesome River Band, Carolina Road, Dean Osborne Band, Mountain Heart, Eddie Pennington, Moron Brothers, Bobby Osborne and The Rocky Top X-press, Southern Harvest, Crossroad and Ruby & 'Em.

Artists and craftspeople will be set up Saturday. A vintage car display, 5K race and inflatable games also are part of the weekend. RV camping is available for $30.

Friday cost is $25 at the gate; Saturday, $30 at the gate. An all-weekend pass is $45 at the gate.

"Fire on the Mountain" plays through Sept. 22 in the Pamela Brown Auditorium at Actors Theatre of Louisville.

The musical is about the lives of coal miners in the Appalachian Mountains. It is a celebration of courage, culture, hardships and heroics told through bluegrass rhythms.

Showtimes are 2:30 p.m. for matinees, 7:30 p.m. for evening performances. Tickets are $26, $36, $41 for Wednesday matinees; $33, $43, $48 for Sunday through Thursday matinees; and $38, $48, $58 for opening and Friday and Saturday evenings. A $1 historic landmark facility fee will be added to the above prices.

A sign-interpreted performance will be 7:30 p.m. Sept. 11.
