Gwendolyn Joyce "JoJo" Hardwick, 72, of Waynesburg

Gwendolyn Joyce "JoJo" Hardwick, 72, of Waynesburg, died Monday, Aug. 27 in Lincoln County.

A native of Lincoln County, she was born Thursday, May 9, 1935 to the late Grant and Allie Hale Stamper. She was valedictorian of the 1953 graduating class of Memorial High School, a cook and lunchroom manager at Kings Mountain Elementary School for more than 20 years, a member of Pleasant View Baptist Church where she was the ladies Sunday school teacher for 30 years, and the widow of Denny Hardwick,

She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Kermit and Glen Stamper; and six sisters Ruby Williams, Jenny Willis, Bea Stonecypher, Wanda Owens, Rena Hardin and Lou Reynolds.

Survivors include three sons, David Denny (Kathy) Hardwick of Waynesburg, Mark Delyn (Pam) Hardwick of Waynesburg, and Michael Darren (Genia) Hardwick of Crab Orchard; a daughter Sherrie Dawn (James) Tarter of Waynesburg; a sister, Delna Hilton of Tennessee; 10 grandchildren, Tiffany Kirkpatrick, Kallie Rae Rankin, Travis Hardwick, Gwen Warner, Jordan Hardwick, Adrienne Hardwick, Jared Hardwick, Cody Tarter, Jonathan Hardwick, and Wade Hardwick; and one great grandchild, Jackson Kirkpatrick.

Funeral services will be today (Aug. 30) at 10 a.m. at Pleasant View Baptist Church with Bros. Aaron Hogue and Vola Brown officiating. Burial was in Double Springs Cemetery.

Active pallbearers were Brackie Gaither, Don Story, Dan Story, Wes Cornett, Shannon Reynolds, Gary Owens, Randy Owens, and Chuck Jacobs.

Memorials are preferred to Gideon's International.

Barnett and Demrow Funeral Home of Waynesburg was in charge of the arrangements.
