Shelter spotlight

September 01, 2007

Gee Gee and Kaylee are the pets of the week for the Clark County Animal Shelter.

The two female dogs, which are both said to be good with children, adults and other animals, are available for adoption along with other lost or abandoned pets at the shelter. Both have been at the shelter for a month.

Gee Gee is a brown-and-white Jack Russell mix who weighs about 20 pounds and has not been altered. She was found as a stray.

"Gee Gee enjoys being a lap dog," said Beth Bowman, director of the animal shelter. "She has a wonderful temperament."

Kaylee, a tan shepherd mix with a black face, weighs about 30 pounds and has been spayed. She was given up by her owner.

"Kaylee is a fun dog. She gets along well with everyone and is a wonderful family dog," Bowman said.

The Clark County Animal Shelter is located on Iron Works Road near the fairgrounds. It is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and is closed on Sunday and Monday.

Adoption fees are $50 for dogs and $40 for cats. The cost includes a first set of vaccinations, a spay or neuter, a heartworm test for dogs, and a feline combination test for cats, a rabies shot, a free veterinary visit and a mild de-worming treatment.
