Green, green grass of home

September 01, 2007

It's been two years now since bermuda grass was installed at Cardinal Stadium and the playing surface is a beauty.

I can remember when I took over the sports editor's job here in 2003 and covered my first game at Clark. The first thing I noticed was the playing field was aweful. There were hardly any lines visible and you had to basically guess where the ball was. My first thought was, 'This is a Class 4A school?' Wow.

The field at Duerson Stadium in Berea (my old high school) was in better shape, although it was a close call.

Two years later, a new playing surface was installed at the home of the Cards and makes the field look awesome.

Not only does the field provide good visibility for the eyes, it also helps when it comes to identifying the yard line for certain people who cover the games, both in radio and print.

Sometimes it's good to see the green, green grass of home.
