West girls cruise in Colt Classic

The West Jessamine High girls soccer team rolled through the Colt Classic The team is undefeated with a record of 7-0-2. West is ranked 6th in the state.

The Colts defeated Russell 2-0. Senior Lindsay Williams scored off an assist from Sydney Sisler.

Ashley Cobane also scored with the assist coming from Arin Gilliland. Molly Knight earned the clean sheet in the goal.

West also defeated John Hardin 6-1.

Williams and Sisler hooked up three more times in the nightcap. Williams scored twice and Sisler once, each assisting the other.

Tosha Boden scored as well with an assist off the foot of Teryn Wright.

Cobane chipped in a goal, the assist from Kari Daily.

Wright added a goal unassisted to round out the scoring. Knight and Allison Brown shared keeping duties.

The Colts host Bourbon County tonight at 8 p.m.

West Middle splits with Georgetown

The West Middle Girls basketball team traded wins with Georgetown Tuesday.

The 7th graders defeated Georgetown 24-15. Shelby Hawkins lead the Colts with five points.

Rebekah Hulsing, Katelyn Quillen and Allison Mims each tossed in four points.

Emma Baxter scored three while Kendall Anderson and Ashlee Rose each tossed in a pair.

The 8th graders feel to Georgetown by one, 33-32. Erin Conner led West scorers with 12 points.

Mims added seven. Mariah Cates tossed in five points. Alex Bray added four. Baxter and Heather Noble rounded out the scoring with two points each.

East soccer beats Bourbon County

The East Jessamine High boys soccer team defeated Bourbon County 3-0 Tuesday night on the road.

Michael Small scored a goal and Salvador Carmona scored two in the victory.

The match was marked with physical play as officials handed out a handful of yellow cards in the second half.

"We are growing as a team and getting much better," East Coach Eric Lichaa said. "This was a big step forward in the right direction."

East will continue its effort in the Stonerside Cup against Somerset tonight.
