Golf: Yeast leads Mercer

September 06, 2007

Andrew Yeast fired a 2-under-par 34 and Ward Dedman shot a 36 Wednesday to lead Mercer County to a 150-167 win over Western Hills at Bright Leaf Golf Course.

The win clinched the Eastern Division championship of the Central Kentucky Conference for the Titans (5-2).

"It was a great round today for our team, continuing our solid play from over the weekend," Mercer coach Jay Anderson said. "Andrew Yeast continues to play well and it is keeping him in the hunt for conference player of the year honors."

Anderson called Dedman's performance "gutsy" since he was playing on a sprained ankle from earlier in the day.

Rockcastle County 149, Boyle County 156 - At Danville, Rockcastle clinched the regular season Kentucky Bluegrass Conference title with a win over Boyle.

Brandon Gardner led Boyle with a 37, and J.T. Ross and Cody Pollard each shot 39. Jordan Cash led Rockcastle with a 1-under par 35.
