Charles "Sonny" Burton, Jr., 65, of Woodview Drive died Sunday, Sept. 9, at Central Baptist Hospital. A native of Fayette County, he was born April 7, 1942. He attended Lexington Baptist Temble and was the owner of Burton's Transmission. Sonny loved being a mechanic and drag racing.
Survivors include his wife of 30 years Doris Ann Hill Burton, his parents Charles Sr. and Mildred Powell Burton, children Charles Anthony Burton and wife Sandee of Washington, Tisha Marie Snyder of Nich-olasville, two brothers Jackie Wayne Burton and wife Marilyn, and James L. "Jim" Burton, a sister Linda C. Burton all of Lexington, five grandchildren Kayla Marie Snyder, Justin Taylor Snyder, Austin Snyder, Kayse Snyder, and Andrew "Andy" Snyder, and two step grandchildren Charles "Chuck" Applebee and Kim Applebee. Services were held at 1 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 12, at Hager & Cundiff Funeral Home with Pastor Doug Henry officiating. Burial was in Wilmore Cemetery. Family and friends served as pallbearers. Visitation was from 4 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 11, at the funeral home.
