Letter: Disappointed that DHS didn't recognize 9/11

September 13, 2007

Dear Editor,

As a student in Danville High School, I was appalled by the news that we would in no way be honoring those who died on September 11, 2001. We did not have a moment of silence, or anything else for that manner. We simply had one piece of paper that said "Remember Remember the eleventh of September."

I realize that what happened then may not matter to some, but what about those who do care? We have many soldiers over in Iraq fighting due to this attack, and not one teacher talked about it at all. I just can't believe that what happened six years ago can be forgotten so easily.

I'm sure if someone knew a person who died, or was fighting, they'd care. I have someone fighting and I do, but I suppose that doesn't matter, does it?
