Volleyball: Danville goes 0-4 at Rockcastle

September 23, 2007

MOUNT VERNON - Danville lost all four of its matches Friday and Saturday in the Rockcastle County Invitational.

The Lady Admirals (3-11) bowed out of the tournament Saturday after losing to what might have been the best two teams in the field. They fell 25-13, 25-7 to host Rockcastle in the last of their three pool matches, then lost 25-4, 25-6 to Southwestern in the elimination tournament.

"Although the scores were lopsided today, we ran into the two top seeds in the tournament ... both of them very strong teams," Danville coach Scott Johnson said. "But I was pleased with how we played as a team today. We played some very good team volleyball in both matches.

"I thought it was a good learning experience for us, trying to get a young program as much match experience as possible."

Danville lost its two pool matches Friday, falling 25-13, 25-15 to North Laurel and 25-18, 25-12 to Western Hills.

Becca Goode had three aces in those two matches, and Riona Watson led the Lady Admirals in digs.
