Community Education classes scheduled in Boyle, Garrard counties

Boyle County

Danville-Boyle-Kentucky School for the Deaf Community Education is offering the following classes.

Red Cross Baby-Sitting Certification: 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Oct. 20 at Community Education. Class is geared for ages 11-17. The six-hour class includes safety, infant child CPR, diapering, feeding, general child care and what to do when a child or infant chokes. Certificates will be given. This class also is appropriate for new mothers. Book and lunch included. Instructor is Karen Taylor.

Beginning Digital Photography: 6:30-8 p.m. Oct. 4, 11 and 18 at the Bate Middle School music room. Class is for people with new digital cameras or planning to buy one. Will discuss all aspects of digital cameras and photography, editing, printing and storage of images. Instructor is John Gentry. $38.

Concealed Weapons: 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Oct. 6 and beginning 1:30 p.m. Oct. 7 at Community Education. Course meets or exceeds all state requirements to qualify for a concealed weapons permit. Separate range times. Do not bring firearms to class. Instructor is Carroll Pixley. Cost is $75.

Advanced Word: 8-11 a.m. Oct. 15 and 17.

Advanced Access: 1:30-4:30 p.m. Oct. 15 and 17.

Introduction to Word: 8-11 a.m. Oct. 16 and 18.

Introduction to Excel: 1:30-4:30 p.m. Oct. 16 and 18.

Advanced Excel: 5:30-8:30 p.m. Oct. 16 and 18.

Introduction to Word: 9 a.m.-noon Oct. 20 and 27.

Garrard County

Garrard County Community Education is offering the following classes. For more information, to request a specific class or to register, call Brenda Powers at (859) 792-1690.

Biggest Loser: 6:30 p.m. Monday at Lancaster Physical Therapy. $5 membership fee. The Lancaster Physical Therapy membership is $20 per month or $40 for three months. Prizes for first, second and third place winners.

Free Computer Classes: 9-11 a.m. and 1-3 p.m. Tuesday at Garrard County Extension Office and Wednesday at Garrard County Senior Citizens Center. Classes are provided by the Bluegrass ADD Jobs Bus. Learn to use a computer, search for a job and prepare a resume. To register, call (859) 792-1690 or (859) 792-3018

Beginning Line Dance Classes: 7 p.m. Thursday at Lancaster Elementary School's gymnasium. $20. Call Brenda Powers at (859) 792-1690 or Kathy Floyd at (859) 792-3018.

Ballet & Tap Dance: 3:15-4 p.m. beginning Thursday at Paint Lick Elementary School gym for kindergarten age and up. All children learn balance and lots of songs. Students will wear leotards and tights to class. Instructor is Shirley Cooper of Cooper School of Dance. $30. Parents must write a note to child's teacher notifying them that your child will attend dance classes.
