Cross Country teams compete in Knoxville

Both East and West Jessamine cross country teams competed last week in the Volunteer Cross Country Invitational at Victor Ashe Park in Knoxville, Tenn.

The West boys came away with a ninth place finish out of the 25 team field.

Will Stratford led the way for the Colts finishing the 5K race in a team best 17:27.04 and a 16th place finish.

Four other West runners broke the 20 minute mark led by Evan Ball with an 18:17.38, good enough to finish 45th, followed by Brian Troyer at number 65 with a 18:51.29, and Jeff Walker, 76th at 19:06.73.

Jarred Brewster, 116th at 20:03.10 and Josh Pugel, 134th at 20:31.18 rounded out the West scores.

East's boys finished in 20th place, led by Nick Zabilks's 93rd place finish in a time of 19:24.62, Dmitriy Fonov, 118th, 20:05.33, Jordan Valenta, 124, 20:10.21, and Parker Collins, 131, 20:28.89.

Jordi Garcia-Timko, 176, 22:17.55, James Griggs, 183, 22:50.60 and Zach Setness, 198, 24:41.74 completed the East scoring.

On the girls side, West Jessamine finished 15th led by Adrianne Shearer's 18th place finish in a time of 21:18.94.

Other finishers for West were Beth Crist, 75, 23:21.02, Katie Leversedge, 77, 23:25.31, Julianne Bandy, 138, 26:45.12, Allison Evans, 157, 28:19.95, Samantha Keeling, 162, 28:55.64 and Hannah Davis, 169, 30:28.32.

East's top finisher was Mary Jennings at 74th with a time of 23:14.20, followed by Sarah Tolover, 143, 27:04.48, Jacqueline Winters, 166, 29:54.53, and Christina Hale, 177, 36:45.69.
