Members of the former Muddy Creek Band have organized a Raise the Rooster Memorial Concert for the late Larry D. "Rooster" Brewer, a former drummer with the band, according to Donnie Clem.The two-day event is scheduled Saturday and Sunday at Jenny Wiley State Park.
Saturday's schedule features the Ireland Dublin City Band, The Ramblers and the Winters Brothers Band from Nashville. Sunday's agenda includes Exile, Brad Alford of Lexington, Brandy Norman, who will perform both days, and Cross Wind.
Proceeds from the event will be used to fund a scholarship through the Morehead State University Foundation. These funds will provide scholarships for artists from the Appalachian Coal Basin, including Kentucky, West Virginia, Virginia, Tennessee and Arkansas, to attend Morehead State as undergraduates.
No admission will be charged, however a donation of $11 is requested.
