Court Days in Mount Sterling

October 17, 2007

Tens of thousands of people crowd the back streets in Mount Sterling during October Court Day weekend. In the 19th century, people came to town one day a month for court, and traded goods. Mount Sterling maintained the trading tradition, but these days instead of hound dogs and sorghum, the wares on display are more likely to be sweatshirts and funnel cakes. Court Day is actually Monday, but the biggest crowds are on Saturday and Sunday.
