Obra Gullette: Dec. 8, 1922 - Oct. 15, 2007

Obra Gullette, 84, husband of Vina Rainwater Gullette, of Maple Street, died Oct. 15, at his home after long illness. He was born in Jessamine County on Dec. 8, 1922, son of the late Henry and Vienie Blakeman Gullette. He was a retired employee of the Veterans Administration Hospital and served as a lockmaster at Lock No. 7. Additional survivors include two sons, Larry Gullette and Mike and wife Judy Gullette, a daughter, Barbara and husband Pat Casey, grandchildren, Sarah Canter, Trish Shearer, Chris, Eric, Greg and Miliah Gullette, Jamie Simms, 10 special great-grandchildren. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 19, at Betts & West Funeral Home with the Rev. Dean Cook. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 18. Burial will be in the Wilmore Cemetery. Bearers will be Joe Walker, Tim West, Danny Houge, Bobby and Ken Gullette, Harold, Stan and Benny Rainwater. Honorary bearers will be Chuck Dees and Alvin Harris. Donations are suggested to Hospice of the Bluegrass.
