About the Arts: Pokemon tournament set for Saturday

Danville will be the site of Pokemon Trading Card Game Diamond & Pearl/Secret Wonders Prerelease tournament. Prerelease tournaments provide players the opportunity to preview and play with unreleased cards from the upcoming Diamond & Pearl/Secret Wonders expansion. The Pokemon TCG: Diamond & Pearl/Secret Wonders Prerelease tournaments will be held during the weekend of Oct. 27.

Players are divided into three divisions: Junior Division (born in 1996 or later); Senior Division (born in 1992, 1993, 1994 or 1995); and Masters Division (born in 1991 or earlier). An admission fee is charged at the door and varies depending on event location. The entry fee includes six booster packs of the Poekmon TCG: Diamond & Pearl/Secret Wonders, from which each player will build his or her deck.

Players are free to take the cards home at the end of the event. All participants will receive a Pokemon TCG: Diamond & Pearl/Secret Wonders Prerelease promo card and a Diamond & Pearl/Secret Wonders promotional item, while supplies last. Players who complete the tournament also will receive two additional booster packs of Diamond & Pearl/Secret Wonders cards.

Arts council seminar

The Kentucky Arts Council will present a workshop, "Pricing Your Work in Today's Market" from 5 to 7 p.m. Nov. 7 at the Frankfort Convention Center Meeting Room, 500 Mero Street, Frankfort. This session is open to all Kentucky craft and visual artists and will address that age-old question, "How much do I charge?"

Kathy Werking, owner of Soap Werks in Midway, will present the workshop. Werking is a communications professor for Eastern Kentucky University and the University of Louisville and has advised in numerous consultancies and mentoring programs for the Kentucky Arts Council.

Class size is limited and pre-registration is required by Nov. 2. There is a nominal fee of $10 for the class and an additional $10 for individual consultation. To register for the workshop, go to: http://kycraft.ky.gov/whatsnew.html#pricing.
