Mia's Beauty Shop is a full service salon for all ages and genders. However, salon owner Miakecha Shands does specialize in African-American styles, braiding and extensions.
"I love braiding hair," she said. "Any kind of braids, except the micro braids, I don't do them," she said.
Shands graduated from Barrett and Co. School of Hair Design in Nicholasville and completed an apprenticeship with Nick Lilly of Nick's Esatis in Lexington.
Stylist Amy Eslick is proficient in trendy haircuts and color correction, but is adept at traditional styles as well.
In addition, the salon offers facial waxing and chemical services.
Mia's is located inside the mini-mall at 106-B Edgewood Plaza, Nicholasville.
The salon is open Tuesday and Wednesday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday and Friday, 10 a.m. through the last evening appointment and Saturday, 9 a.m. until 5 p.m.
The shop is closed Sunday and Monday. Appointments and walk-ins are welcome.
