Expert quilter to lead seminar

JABEZ - Renowned quilt teacher Anita Shackelford will share her expertise at the Jabez Quilt Seminar in Rockcastle County, scheduled for Jan. 22-26 at the Kentucky Leader Center. Twenty quilt teachers will teach 40 workshops for quilters of all skill levels. All registration information is online at www.ca.uky.edu/klc. Anyone without Internet access may call the Rockcastle Extension Office at (606) 256-2403 and ask to be mailed a brochure.

Tasting party planned

STANFORD - A "Taste of America" will be presented 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Nov. 16 by the Lincoln County Extension Homemakers. The tasting party will be at the county extension service office. Cost is $4 per person/per plate.

Forensics team selling poinsettias

The Danville High School forensics team is selling poinsettias. They are $10 each and varieties include: red, white, pink, Jingle Bells (pink and red), Marble (white with pink centers, bunny ears) and Silverstar Red (red with many green leaves).

Each plant comes with a dark green foil wrapper. Pots are 6 1/2 inches in diameter.

Make checks payable to Danville High School; orders must be placed by Nov. 17. Poinsettias will arrive at the school the afternoon of Dec. 6. For more information, contact any member of the speech/forensics team or e-mail steve.meadows@danville.kyschools.us.

Heritage Festival XV planning committee - 4 p.m. Sunday in Danville High School cafeteria. Anyone interested in planning for the event is welcome to attend. For questions or more information, call (859) 236-5818.

The Boyle County AARP Chapter - 6:30 p.m. today at the Danville-Boyle County Senior Citizens center on Jean Drive. Agenda items include initiating Community Outreach for Seniors, a program being developed to check on seniors living alone. Also on the agenda is discussion of emergency preparedness. The chapter also will plan fundraising events. Anyone over 50 is welcome.

South District Baptist Association - 7 p.m. today for a Baptist Men's meeting at Lancaster Baptist Church, Richmond Street, Lancaster.
