Sylvia Gentry: March 30, 1939 - Oct. 7, 2007

Sylvia Baker Gentry, 68, of Alpine Way, died Wednesday Oct. 7 at Central Baptist Hospital in Lexington. A native of Jessamine County, she was born March 30, 1939, of the late William and Lulu Sparks Baker. She was the widow of Chester Gentry who died in 2005. Sylvia was a member of the Logana Baptist Church. Survivors include a daughter Deborah Gentry, a granddaughter Candace D. Gentry, a great-grandson Dylon Gentry-Horn, a brother Kelly Baker, two sisters Dorothy Doolin and Thelma Neal and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two brothers Joe Baker and Ernest "Junior" Brown and a sister Jane Sandusky. Services were Friday Nov. 9, at 12:30 p.m. at Hager & Cundiff Funeral Home with the Rev. Tommy Falin officiating. She was laid to rest with her husband at Camp Nelson National Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Jason Gentry, Kenny Gentry, Robert Collins, Chris Doolin, Donnie Doolin, and Jackie Neal. Visitation was from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 8, at the funeral home.
