Minnie Phillips Grimes, 85

Minnie Phillips Grimes, 85, of Hill Court, Lancaster, died Friday, Nov. 16 at the St. Joseph Hospital.

A native of Lincoln County, she was born April 24, 1922 to the late John Phillips and Hattie Lasure Phillips. She was a dietary aid for the Garrard County Memorial Hospital for over 25 years, a member of the Lancaster Nazarene Church, and the widow of Homer Grimes.

She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Lee Grimes; one brother, Kenneth Phillips; three sisters, Grace Cook, Lula Reynolds, and Robertta McQuerry.

Survivors include four daughters, Alene (Bob) East, Hazel (George) Conner, and Shirley Grimes, all of Lancaster, and Lillian (Freddie) Padgett of Waynesburg; two sons, Buddy and Bruce Grimes, both of Lancaster; two brothers, Gatewood Phillips of Lancaster and John Phillips of Stanford; six grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.

Funeral services were Nov. 20 at the Lancaster Nazarene Church with Bros. Daryl Hodge, David Young, and Jim Cook officiating. Burial was in Lancaster Cemetery.

Active pallbearers were John Davis, Terry Graves, Gene Hall, Tommy Shelton, Darrell Barrett, and Doc Long. Honorary pallbearers were grandchildren, great grandchildren, and Mark Rogers.

Spurlin Funeral Home of Lancaster was in charge of the arrangements.
