The East Jessamine girls didn't were missing their floor general Tuesday night.
That combined with poor shooting and low rebound totals dropped the Jaguars on the road against Nelson County to open the season, 56-36.
Ashley Willoughby, junior point guard, was scratched from the lineup due to illness, Coach Ralph Sallee said.
"We found out the day before Ashley wasn't going to be there," he said. "And we weren't able to make a quick adjustments."
The Jaguars were in the game through the first half, but the Cardinals pulled away in the third quarter, in large part due to East's inability to get shots to fall in. The team was 16-for-49 shooting on the night.
