LIBERTY - A Casey County couple have been arrested in connection with a 2005 robbery at the Omra Wesley residence in the Bethelridge community, state police said.

Travis Goodin, 36, and Adriel Goodin, 24, both of 5011 Casey Creek Road, were charged Friday with robbery, according to state police Detective George Atwood.

The Goodins were lodged in Casey County Detention Center. Each is under a $25,000 cash bond.

The arrests came after a lengthy investigation by Atwood, Casey Sheriff Jerry Coffman and state police drug task officers Dennis Allen and Danny Burton.

Other arrests are pending on the robbery along with several church, school and residential burglaries that occurred during 2005 in Casey County, Atwood said.

The suspects wore masks when they invaded the home of 80-year-old Wesley, on Ky. 837 South, injured him while he was asleep and took weapons and cash. The men entered the house during the early morning hours June 23 after prying open a window and took more than $1,000 in cash, eight weapons and his late wife's jewelry.

Coffman said the suspects pushed Wesley on the floor. When he fell, his back and arm were injured. Neighbors bandaged the injuries, but Wesley refused to go to the hospital, the sheriff said.

At the time of the robbery, Wesley said he tried to get the intruders to talk to him, but they remained silent.

The two intruders reportedly went through a large barn and old farmhouse before breaking in to Wesley's residence.

The weapons, two shotguns and five rifles, were valued at $2,000. The stolen guns are a 12-gauge single barrel shotgun and a 16-gauge double barrel shotgun, a .22-caliber rifle with scope, .270-caliber Savage rifle, .25-caliber Army rifle, and two other rifles.

The suspects cut the telephone lines to Wesley's house, so he was unable to get help.
