Rev. Minerva Bell Godbey, 93

Rev. Minerva Bell Godbey, 93, of St. Mildred's Court, Danville, died Sunday, Dec. 16 at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville.

A native of Perryville, she was born Friday, Oct. 16, 1914 to the late William Hon Godbey and Minnie Pearl Hill Godbey. She was a graduate of Perryville High School, attended God's Bible school in Cincinnati in the early 1930's, was a member of the Church of the Nazarene in Danville and a retired Church of the Nazarene minister. She started her ministry in Pasadena, Calif., then she ministered in Saquache, Col., and Tyrone, Denton, Tram, and Danville. She also enjoyed quilting and fishing.

She was also preceded in death by a brother, John Paul Godbey; sisters, Christine V. Hendren, Ruth Frances Godbey, Effie Durham Ison, Esther Marshall Godbey, and Helen June Godbey; and her grandfather, Dr. W.B. Godbey.

Survivors include a nephew, Bill (Linda) Hendren of Danville; a niece, Lucy (James) Joseph of Mooresville, Ind.; great nieces, Judy Lynn Jones, Wanda Gayle Terrell, Lynn Bratcher, Jamie Stow, Kathy Dyke, and Kristi Hendren; and great nephews, Gary Wayne Joseph and Alan Hendren.

Funeral services were Dec. 19 at Preston-Pruitt Funeral Home in Danville with Pastor Mark East and Bro. Henderson Goins officiating. Burial was in Hillcrest Cemetery in Perryville.

Active pallbearers were Alan Hendren, James and Gary Joseph, Danny Gipson, Jim McKenzie, Donald Walker, and Jesse Bratcher. Honorary pallbearers were Dr. Finley Hendrickson, Dr. Shelby White, Kevin Hash, and Walter Nimocks.
