Letter: Impatient driver ruined day

January 11, 2008

Dear Editor,

Fast driver tailgating, narrow, curvy road, new Kentucky resident not familiar with the road. New resident slows to turn off road, tailgater speeds up and honks horn in anger. Sound familiar?

Well, it happened to us on Ky. 37 in Forkland the other day. The tailgater was driving some sort of community service bus toward Junction City, and we, being unfamiliar with the road, were observing the speed limit.

Just minutes before, we had been told by a local resident about speeders in the area - and here we were, observing the law and driving prudently, only to get a honk of the horn from an impatient driver who may well have had handicapped people inside his/her bus.

No wonder there are so many accidents and insurance rates are so high.

Speed limits were put in place for a reason.

Did this driver think that we'd drive faster just because he/she was in a hurry? It was a wonderful day, meeting new people, ruined by one impatient, imprudent driver.
