Letter: Know the truth about ACLU

January 20, 2008

Dear Editor,

Laura Pasley's Jan. 16 letter to the editor in The Advocate-Messenger is full of intellectual dishonesty. Anyone who can read between the lines knows the truth that the ACLU is full of hypocrisy. Their motto is "Keep America Safe And Free," but their actions show an entirely different tone. They try to suppress the teaching of intelligent design in our classrooms, but defend teaching Islam, and that's just the tip of the iceberg. Consider also that in the past that they have sued to have the Ten Commandments removed from the public square, but defend organizations like NAMBLA (North American Man/Boy Love Association) that promote what is essentially child abuse.

I'll bet a Wikipedia search won't reveal that the ACLU has defended neo-Nazi groups calling for the destruction of the Jewish people, and that they have sued on behalf of terrorists outside of their legal jurisdiction while in prisons on foreign soil. Seems to me that only child molesters, muderers and terrorists are helpless, if you believe the ACLU's propoganda. Their continued suppression of Christians in this country is more than evident. The ACLU is not out to defend the rights and liberties of the minority, and the public would be well served to know the truth.
