Helen Crain Underwood, 93, of Perryville, died Tuesday, Jan. 29 in Danville.
A native of Boyle County, she was born Oct. 5, 1914 to the late Ray and Martha Harmon Crain. She was a retired teacher for the Boyle County Board of Education, teaching in the Parksville and Perryville schools, a member of the Perryville Baptist Church, Perryville Homemakers, Kentucky Retired Teachers Association, and the Ephraim McDowell Medical Center Auxiliary, and the widow of Eugene Underwood.
She was also preceded in death by a brother, James Crain; and a sister, Virginia Crain.
Survivors include two daughters, Judy Underwood of Perryville and Betty Melloan of Lawrenceburg; one son, Stuart (Sheila) Underwood of Stanford; two grandchildren, Jon Melloan of Lawrenceburg and Amy (Jeff) Sandefur of Berea; two great grandchildren, Justin and Jordan Shandefur both of Berea; and one niece, Janet Reynolds of Perryville.
Funeral services will be Friday, Feb. 1 at Wilder Funeral Home in Perryville with Rev. Doug Davis officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery in Perryville.
