Mildred H. "Midge" Gooch, 78

Mildred H. "Midge" Gooch, 78, of the Boneyville community in Stanford, died Friday, Jan. 18.

A native of Lincoln County, she was born April 25, 1929 to the late Hugh and Betty Helm. She was a member of the Boneyville Bethel AME Church where she served on the Usher Board and the kitchen committee and was the widow of James H. Gooch.

She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Harrison and Joe Will Helm; three sisters, Clara Helm, Patty J. Smallwood and Roberta Bright; and one nephew, Sylvester Helm.

Survivors include a sister, Viola Farmer of Cincinnati, Ohio; nephew, Hubert L. Helm of Stanford; special nieces, Pamela Norman Shannon of Cincinnati, Ohio and Chanell Helm of Winston Salem, N. C.; brother-in-laws, J.D. Gooch, Albert (Wilma) Gooch, Robert (Janie) Gooch, Ernest (Irene) Gooch and Clarence (Sue) Gooch; sister-in-laws, Pauline (Charles) Hunn and Mary V. Masterson; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral services were Jan. 25 at the Boneyville Bethel AME Church.

Smith-Jackson Funeral Home of Danville was in charge of the arrangements.
