Local student to represent Morehead in honor choir

Chelsea Carpenter, a Winchester native and a junior at Morehead State University, has been selected as a member of the 100-voice 2008 Kentucky All-Collegiate Honor Choir. Carpenter is the daughter of John and Teresa Carpenter.

Selected from MSU are: Cassandra Manning, Maysville senior; Mallory Draughn, Pikeville junior; Alisha Gifford, Dry Ridge junior; and Chelsea Carpenter, Winchester junior; Dustin Stevens, Morehead junior; Greg Purvis Jr., Mt. Sterling junior; Kyle Bentley, Pikeville sophomore; and William Murphy, Hawesville junior.

The guest director for the choir will be Dr. Jonathan Reed, associate director of choral activities, at Michigan State University College of Music.

The choir will be part of the 50th Annual In-Service Professional Development Conference of the Kentucky Music Educators Association. The free performance will be at 7:20 p.m. Thursday in Whitney Hall at the Kentucky for the Arts in Louisville.
