Two of Jessamine County's most traveled roadways will soon receive a needed facelift.
Tuesday, the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet District announced that resurfacing will take place on portions of the Nicholasville Bypass and High Bridge Road (Ky. 29).
A 4.82 mile stretch of the bypass (U.S. 27) will be resurfaced from the south junction to the north junction.
The Lexington Quarry Co., was awarded the $2.43 million bid, according to a transportation cabinet news release.
Work on the bypass will begin as soon as the weather permits, said David B. Thacker, information officer for the cabinet.
"There is no set in stone date," he said. "A lot will depend on the weather. Asphalt requires consistent temperatures. So it won't be in the next month unless something unusual happens."
