JCFD responds to two fires last week

The Jessamine County Fire District was called to battle two blazes last week. The first occurred Saturday afternoon when a mobile home caught fire in Tates Creek Estates.

That fire broke out around 1:30 p.m. When the fire department arrived at 716 Lukie Drive, it found the home engulfed with flames.

No one was home during the blaze and there were no injuries reported.

The department was also called to out to a barn fire Monday around 11 p.m.

Fire Chief Mike Rupard said more than 100 bales of hay were burned up during the blaze that occurred off U.S. 68, near Southland Christian Church.

The cause of both fires are still under investigation.

Basket-Bowl event to support YMCA

Strike Zone Lanes in Nicholasville will be the site of the YMCA of Central Ken-tucky's "Basket-Bowl 2008" event on Saturday, March 1 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.

Bobby Perry will be in attendance.

Tickets for the event are $15 per person in advance, $20 the day of the event. The fee includes two hours of bowling and shoe rental.
