Danville Police Department offers Citizens Academy

March 05, 2008

Danville Police Department will conduct a Citizens Academy April 15-May 20 for people who live or work in Boyle County.

The academy will run on Tuesday nights for six weeks, with a graduation celebration set for May 27.

The academy is not designed to make an individual a police officer. Rather, it is designed to educate citizens about police work and the Danville Police Department in particular.

The classes will cover a wide range of topics from traffic stops to crime scene investigations. The majority of the instruction will be in a classroom setting with some hands-on demonstrations, but some instruction will be practical and give participants the opportunity to dust for and lift fingerprints and perform traffic stops.

To sign up, call Capt. James P. Monroe at (859) 238-1224, ext. 305, or e-mail jmonroe@ci.danville.ky.us. Put Citizens Academy in the subject line.
