Franklin Quinn: Aug. 11, 1920 - March 6, 2008

Franklin Johnson Quinn, 87, husband of 60 years to Norma Jean Fehr Quinn, of Weil Lane, passed away March 6 after a long illness. Mr. Quinn was born Aug. 11, 1920, son of the late John Robert and Susie Johnson Quinn. Mr. Quinn was a veteran of the U.S. Army during World War II, serving in France, he was an employee of Donaldson Baking Company in Louisville in 1948, moving to Nicholasville in 1957 to manage Donaldson Bakery there. He later retired from National Life and Accident Insurance Company. After his retirement Mr. Quinn drove a school bus for St. Luke Catholic Church for 10 years.

He will be remembered for his gentle nature, ever present smile and the strength in his handshake. The courage he displayed in the face of unbelievable medical problems will continue to be an inspiration to his family and those who knew him during the last difficult years.

Additional survivors include six children and their spouses, Donald and wife Sandra Quinn, Ronald and wife Sherry Quinn, Richard Quinn, John Robert and wife Mary Ann Quinn, Doris and husband Johnny Collier and Martha and husband Mark Sims, 13 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

Funeral Mass was held Monday at St. Luke Catholic Church with Father George McGinnis and Father Tony Jones. Burial followed in Camp Nelson National Cemetery.

Visitation was from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday at Betts & West Funeral Home. Prayer services were held at 5:30 p.m. Sunday. Grandsons served as bearers. Expressions of sympathy may be made to St. Luke Catholic Church, The Veterans Administration or to Hospice of the Bluegrass.
