A 20-year-old Lancaster woman was killed in a head-on collision Monday near Old Bridge Golf Course and seriously injured her passenger.

The crash happened on Ky. 34, between Chenault Bridge Road and the entrance to the golf course.

Ashley Broaddus was pronounced dead at the scene by the Boyle County coroner.

Her passenger, Matthew Pierce, was airlifted to University of Kentucky Hospital, where he was in intensive care Wednesday.

Chris Coffman, information officer for Boyle County Fire Department, said his crews were on the scene in three minutes from District 7 just down the road from the wreck.

Kentucky State Police spokesman Trooper Chris Lanham said a maroon Ford F-250 pickup truck driven by Dean Jarboe, 56, of Stanford was traveling west near Old Bridge when it crossed into the eastbound lane.

The truck collided with a silver Pontiac Grand Prix driven by Ms. Broaddus, who was traveling east.

The truck became airborne, overturned and continued to slide westbound on its top, striking the driver's side door of an eastbound maroon Chevy Tahoe driven by Anita Christopher, 48, of Nicholasville.

Boyle County Dep. Marty Elliott said the Broaddus vehicle was torn in two.

"This was the worst accident I've seen in my 15 years of duty," Mr. Elliott said.

Traffic was re-routed for hours as a KSP reconstructionist arrived on the scene at 8 p.m. to investigate.

Mr. Jarboe was transported by ambulance to Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center, where he was treated for a broken ankle.

Ms. Christopher also was transported to McDowell and was treated and released.

No charges had been filed as of Tuesday afternoon.
