Army National Guard Staff Sgt. Joshua J. Blackmer has returned to Kentucky after being deployed overseas in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.
Blackmer, a senior artillery mechanic, is a member of Alpha Battery, 138th Field Artillery Battalion based in Carrollton, Ky. The guardsman has served in the military for nine years.
He is the son of Janelle M. Bruner of King Arthur Road, Lexington, and L.D. Blackmer of Richmond Avenue, Nicholasville.
His wife, Bobbie, the daughter of Michael B. Poor of Frankfort Road, Versailles, and Mary Ann Johnson of Richmond Street, Lancaster.
The staff sergeant is a 1998 graduate of East Jessamine County High School.
