Random thoughts (April 9)

Tennessee is known for its football tradition. Bruce Pearl has taken the Volunteers to unprecedented heights on the basketball floor.

Although those two programs are dominant in their own right, the women's program can't be overlooked.

The Lady Volunteers won their eighth national title and second in a row earlier this week.

Not a bad feat, considering Kansas has won just three men's titles in the history of the tournament.

Eddie Sutton is considering removing his name from the court at Oklahoma State after the school fired its basketball coach last week. His son Sean just happened to be the one who got the boot. Since Sean didn't work out, the Cowboys should consider Scott Sutton, the coach at Oral Roberts.

How hard is it to get a coach who just won a national championship to leave the program? Just ask Kentucky. The Wildcats were unsuccessful in trying to lure Billy Donovan away from Florida after the Gators won the title a year ago.

Forget who's on first, who's on second, etc. What about a game of who's in charge of what team in the major leagues.

The Cincinnati Reds need some more pitching. Period.

Wonder if Mike Montgomery would consider going back to Stanford?

I'm really surprised Travis Ford withdrew his name for consideration for the LSU post. Then again, he may like UMass.

I'm ready for the Masters!
