Ford off to Oklahoma State

It shouldn't be a surprise that Travis Ford is moving up the coaching ladder.

Ford, who played at the University of Kentucky under Rick Pitino, began his coaching career at Campbellsville, followed by a stint at Eastern Kentucky University, before moving on to UMass, will be named the next coach at Oklahoma State on Thursday.

After leading UMass to the finals of the NIT last month, Ford has been a hot commodity. First Ford's name was mentioned at LSU and Providence. Ford withdrew his name from both colleges and all signs indicated that he was staying at UMass.

Personally, I am happy for Ford. He resurrected a program from the ashes at Eastern and was equally successful at UMass.

The move to OSU has a twist to it. After Eddie Sutton stepped down as coach at Kentucky following the 1988-89 season, Ford transferred from Missouri to Lexington. This move is similar. Ford is replacing Sean Sutton in Stillwater.
