The Winchester Youth Baseball League Reds won two games in major league action this week.

The Reds came away with a come from behind win against the Paris Nationals, improving their record to 6-1.

Down one in the bottom of the last inning, the Reds plated two runs to secure the win.

Zack Roe started for the Reds and went three innings and struck out four batters. Justin and Jarrod Maggard came in to close out the game and fanned to batters.

Roe led the Reds with two hits and two RBIs.

In the third, Justin Maggard ripped a double to right center that broke a 2-2 tie to make the score 4-2.

J. C. Cornelius started the comeback in the last inning with a single and stole second. Renzo Nugent sacrificed J.C. over the third, leading to comeback victory.

The Reds came through with another win by beating the Paris Braves 7-2.

The team got behind early 1-0 after the first inning. But the bats woke up in the third and fourth innings, plating seven runs on five hits.

Zack Roe started the hitting with a leadoff double in the third and scoring on Jarrod Maggard's single. Jarrod led the Reds with two hits. Justin Maggard had a sharp hit to right to continue the inning. Gage Shackelford hit a single to left scoring the final two runs for the Reds. Gage also came in the final inning and struck out two to end the game.

Quinn Cornelius recorded his second win of the year.

Minor League

The Winchester Cardinals took a 6-3 loss at the hands of the Paris Knights.

The game was close, with great defensive plays made at home by J.C. Cornelius and Melissa Hall that changed the momentum.

The Cardinals' bats came to life with Cornelius, Timothy Riddell, Jacob Reffitt, Kristopher Ladd, Hall and Tyler Chism leading the way with eight hits.

Cornelius started and collected bfive strikeouts during three innings of work. Chism tossed the final three innings and fanned three batters.
