HARRODSBURG - Mercer County Magistrate Wayne Jackson called it an act of God.

With a only slight concussion and a small cut on his head, Jackson survived a severe car accident May 15 on Interstate 64 in Shelby County.

Jackson was on his way to work when he lost control of his Nissan Pathfinder during a torrential rain and hit a guardrail. The car flipped and slid on its top for about 350 feet before coming to a stop, he said. The vehicle was totaled.

"It was pouring down the rain," Jackson said. "There was a lot of traffic in the right-hand lane. Thankfully no one was passing at the time."

Law enforcement personnel took Jackson to Jewish Hospital in Shelbyville for treatment of a slight concussion and a gash on his head.

Jackson said he was thankful he was wearing his seat belt and for the people who stopped to help him after the accident.

"They gave me jackets and blankets so I wouldn't get soaked," he said. "It was unbelievable."
