Emily Louise Payne Burns, 60, wife of J. Michael Burns, of Nicholasville, died Wednesday, May 21, after a battle with cancer.
She was secretary and treasurer of JMBA, Inc., and the president and founder of Burns Realty Brokerage. A native of Hazard, she was the daughter of the late Dr. Minor Bransford Payne and Mary Kay Crain Payne. She was a graduate of Patricia Stevens College, Tampa, Fla., a member of St. Luke Catholic Church, the Lexington Board of Realtors, Lexington Homebuilders Association and past-president of the Lexington Chapter of Parents of Murdered Children.
A son, Michael Bransford Burns preceded her in death. In addition to her husband, she is survived by: a son, Andrew Tobin and wife Tana Burns of Richmond, granddaughter: Sarah Grace Burns, sisters: Mary Boyd Payne and husband Larry Huffman and Elizabeth Payne and husband Howard Edward Chappell, both of Lexington and Kay Payne and husband Terry Anderson of Sharpsburg, Ky., sisters-in-law: Kathy and Claire Burns, of Houston, Texas and nine nieces and nephews.
