A recanvass of Clark County votes in the Democratic gubernatorial primary showed no change to the totals for either Lt. Gov. Martha Layne Collins or Louisville Mayor Harvey Sloane. Sloane requested a statewide recanvass last week after unofficial vote totals from across the state showed Mrs. Colllins had won the nomination by about 4,500 votes out of 650,000 cast.

Shawn Taylor, 18, of 114 Le Ann Lane, will be performing with the elite music group, American Youth in Concert, at Carnegie Hall and on a European tour. Taylor qualified for the group after sending a taped audition to the Universal Academy of Music in New Jersey. Taylor plans to attend Eastern Kentucky University next year.

Warner Watts was guest of honor at a birthday dinner May 21 in observance of his 62nd birthday. Hosts for the event were Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Palmer, Irvine Road.

Hart Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution, held its May meeting in the Helen Hunter Room of the Public Library with Miss Thelma Cawood, regent, presiding. Following the flag ceremony, the president general's message was read by Mrs. Hazel R. Adams and the national defense report was given by Mrs. Martha Fox.
