KU/E.ON employees to spruce up children's home

About 300 volunteers of the Kentucky Utilities/E.ON family will perform service work in nine locations around the state to help spruce up the Commonwealth at parks and other locations from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday.

K.U. employees, family and friends from the Danville area will work at Sunrise Children's Home, doing a variety of work that includes cleaning both the interior and exterior of the building, and doing some general spot maintenance work. Volunteers also intend to donate a variety of personal items to the home for the residents.

The effort is part of E.ON's fourth annual Day of Caring where employees from K.U., Louisville Gas and Electric Co., and Western Kentucky Energy Corp. work on projects in their local communities to improve the quality of life in their regions. Other locations in the state include Louisville, Lexington, Richmond, Harlan, Winchester and Sturgis.

Work locations were selected by the suggestions of employees or by local officials who welcomed the prospect of volunteer labor for improvement of their facilities.

This year's effort focuses on improving the environment as well as giving back to the communities the company serves.
