Gary E. Stevens, 59, of Winchester, formerly of Liberty, Ind., died Wednesday, May 28 at Clark Regional Medical Center in Winchester.
A native of Connersville, Ind., he was born Aug. 12, 1948 to Robert E. and Marjorie Hoppes Stevens of Liberty, Ind. He was a 1966 graduate of Short High School in Liberty, a graduate of the University of Michigan, an addiction therapist, owner of counseling agencies in Elkhart and Goshen, Ind., co-founder of the Sudden Infant Death Syndrome Group of Indiana, an Air Force veteran of the Vietnam War, member of the American Legion Post 122 and VFW Post 1472 both of Liberty, and he enjoyed gardening, working in the yard, and antiques.
He was preceded in death by an infant son, Seth W. Stevens.
Other survivors include his wife, Michelle Loewendick Stevens; three daughters, Cary (Shawyn) Damerow of Bristol, Ind., Jessica Stevens of Elkhart, Ind., and Lara Stevens of Pittsburgh, Pa.; a brother, James Robert Stevents of Liberty, Ind.; 11 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
