Late night storm rakes across Jessamine

June 10, 2008|Bob Flynn

Many people in Jessamine County were awakened around midnight last night by a large thunderstorm that blew through Jessamine County.

Strong winds from the storm downed several trees and caused electrical outages in some parts of the county.

Jessamine County Emergency Management Director John Carpenter said his agency received several calls reporting downed trees and limbs on homes and cars and downed electrical lines shortly after the storm, but there were no reported injuries.

"There was no tornadic activity involved with the storm, the damage was from straight line winds. We had some pretty good gusts come through," Carpenter said.

The Nicholasville Post Office was closed Tuesday morning because of an electrical outage but Carpenter said the outages were in a few isolated areas.
