Ichthus festival is this weekend

June 12, 2008

WILMORE - Ichthus Christian Music Festival uses a packed lineup, mission work and innovative, on-site festival features to encourage fans to "Listen.Live." in '08.

"Listen. Live." These words, seemingly so simple, yet often so difficult to achieve, are the theme of "Ichthus:08," the annual Christian music festival held at Ichthus Farm in Wilmore. And to make sure it gives participants every opportunity to follow the "Listen. Live." message, this year's festival is packed with more places and ways to listen and live while at Ichthus than ever before.

The thousands who will flock to Ichthus Farm through Saturday won't have any trouble with the "Listen." part of this year's theme. Ichthus is known for presenting the biggest names in Christian music, as well as showcasing the new artists who are on their way to notoriety. This year is no exception, as the festival expands to include five stages, creating a perfect venue for the more than 100 artists who will perform during Ichthus:08. Casting Crowns, tobyMac, Jeremy Camp, David Crowder, As I Lay Dying, MxPx, Disciple, Day of Fire, and This Beautiful Republic are just a few of the names headlining the schedule this year.

In addition to packing in as much music as possible, this year's festival organizers have added yet another facet to the event, and that's where the second half of this year's theme - "Live." - comes in to play. This year, youth group leaders were given the opportunity to involve their students in a mission experience, happening in Lexington and the surrounding areas just before the festival.
