Local students graduate from Centre College

Three area students received bachelor's degrees from Centre College in Danville during the college's 185th commencement exercises on the campus. The four-year graduation rate for the Class of 2008 was 85 percent, the highest in Centre's history and the highest four-year graduation rate in Kentucky. NASA astronaut Leland Melvin gave the commencement address.

Mary Burchett earned a degree in biochemistry and molecular biology, and graduated magna cum laude. She is a member of Phi Beta Kappa National Honorary Society. She also received The Max P. Cavnes Prize.

Burchett is the daughter of Thomas and Cindra Burchett of Winchester and is a graduate of Lexington Catholic High School.

Josh Evans earned a degree in computer science.

Evans is the son of William and Kathleen Evans of Winchester and is a graduate of Lexington Catholic High School.

Matt Hoskins earned a degree in chemistry.

Hoskins is the son of John and Deborah Hoskins of Winchester and is a graduate of Lexington Catholic High School.
